  • We describe our fit as “implied shape,” meaning the shape of the body is implied in a flattering way. Cut Loose clothes skim the body for a fluid silhouette. When a Cut Loose garment “fits,” it simultaneously flatters the figure and allows room to really move.

  • The name “Cut Loose” is figurative, inviting you to have fun dressing in a relaxed style, with a bit of individuality. Each season offers new wardrobe workhorses, pieces you can wear over and over, and combine to create your “go to” outfits.

  • Made in San Francisco, we keep our environmental footprint as light as possible. Our dyes are non-toxic, and we neutralize our waste water so the salt doesn’t corrode the city’s pipes. Fabric tests are re-purposed into scarves, napkins, market bags, even scrunchies — for sale at our factory store.

  • Every potential Cut Loose fabric is tested to see how it takes the dye; how it holds its shape; how it shrinks; and whether it twists or pills or feels scratchy. The dye bath is 200º F (just below boiling), and we truly believe, “If a garment can get through our dye process, it can get through your life.”

About our Store

The shop is much more than an outlet store. Yes, you’ll find after-season styles at great prices. You can also see samples of current-season styles. (Each sample is shown in only one size, usually a medium, which you are welcome to try on. If it doesn’t happen to be your size, the staff can usually find you something in a similar cut to try on.) Then comes the really fun part – looking at the seasonal fabric swatches. Our factory nearby will dye your garment(s) and ship them directly to you within 2-3 weeks or so. The shop usually offers some surprises as well – maybe a market tote we’ve sewn from a fabric test, or some limited-edition scarves. The staff is super-knowledgeable;  there are two dressing rooms available, one communal and one individual.

Our Neighborhood

About the neighborhood: Cut Loose is just one walkable block from the 24th Street BART station. If you are driving, metered parking is plentiful on both sides of the street. Arizmendi Bakery is right down the block (1268 Valencia; closed Tuesday). It’s worth noting that their pizza of the day comes out of the oven starting at 10AM. If you want to stay in the neighborhood for drinks or dinner, we like Beretta (1199 Valencia). On the weekend, Beretta is open continuously, for brunch-lunch-cocktails-dinner. Continuing down Valencia toward Market, you’ll find jewelry boutique Love & Luxe (1169 Valencia). Walk one more block and refuel at Ritual Coffee Roasters (1026 Valencia). There are so many great spots to shop, sip and savor!
